We are excited to be holding our very first Art Upmarket on 25 August 2018. The reason behind this new event is that we know that the target customers for these type of businesses (artists) are a bit different to those for our regular Upmarket. We have had feedback from local artists that many galleries are closing down and they are looking for more opportunities to sell their art directly to the public… without the expense of having their own shopfront or gallery.
Art Upmarket is a dedicated market that it is a cost effective way to get in front of a lot of art enthusiasts in one day. If you are, or know of, a local artist who just needs to be seen, applications are open until 16 April so CLICK HERE to apply.
One of our exhibitors is Mt Claremont award-winning artist Jo Duffy, who draws inspiration for her unique paintings from the diverse landscapes around WA and has successfully turned her passion into her fulltime career.
Jo said that her childhood, spent living in the wheatbelt and traveling with her family around north and central WA, gave her a great love of the State’s colourful landscapes which continue to inspire her.“The sights, sounds and smells of the midwest are always so familiar and bring on such a wave of nostalgia – I love the vast array of colour through all parts of the calendar, and our big skies and weather,” she said.
Jo’s story was recently featured in The Post Newspapers – read her story here.
