When the first of many Western Australians walk through the doors of the new $400million WA Museum Boola Bardip in November, they will also be greeted with a bird’s eye view of some of our State’s iconic landscapes, captured by Applecross artist, Stellar Fraser.
Stellar is an experienced travel photographer with over 20 years of industry experience sharing landscapes, special events and editorial images across Western Australia.
In 2017, the Applecross artist decided to invest in a drone to expand her photography offerings – a decision and investment that has proved beneficial as her aerial images have captured the eyes of art curators at WA Museum Boola Bardip.
“I’ve had a love affair with photography for many years and aerial photography has allowed me to further showcase the beauty of Western Australia in a new way,” explained Stellar.
“After being contacted by the museum to submit aerial images for their review, a few weeks later I received confirmation from the WA Museum Boola Bardip that one of my aerial images was approved for purchase.”
“A month or so after that, I got another call to say a second image has been purchased.”
Stellar’s aerial images – one of which is of Perth’s most popular surfing beaches, Trigg Beach – will be placed in the Connections Gallery Entry Statement of the WA Museum Boola Bardip for public viewing at the much awaited grand opening on 21 November 2020.
While everyone will need to wait until November to see the new museum, anyone can be first to enjoy and purchase Stellar’s aerial photography at her upcoming exhibition at Perth Art Upmarket on Saturday 17 October 2020 at UWA.
“I’m looking forward to establishing my work in aerial photography, where the sky really is the limit, starting with displaying my work at the Perth Art Upmarket, followed by a pop-up art show in Applecross in December,” said Stellar.
“From there, I will continue to focus on developing my business and finding creative inspiration for my art.”
