The Artistic Journey of a Creative Soul and Devoted Mother
 
Art is an intimate journey that takes us through various terrains of life, emotions, and experiences. For Jessica Marie Swan, the owner of Jess Swan Art, her artistic journey is a balancing act woven around family, passion, and a keen eye for colour and aesthetics.

 

Jessica's tryst with art isn't just a business; it's an ever-evolving story deeply rooted in her life. She started by sharing her work on social media, where an influx of positive feedback encouraged her to pursue her passion. Coming from a background as a colour consultant and interior decorator, Jessica had always been intrigued by the interplay of colour and form.
 
With the unconditional support of her family and friends, she took the bold step to set up a home studio in 2016. Juggling the duties of a mom to four wonderful kids, Jessica has been successful in running her business part-time. "It is my dream to continue painting and inspiring others well into old age," she shares.

Jessica's artworks are bright, intuitive, and free-flowing, encapsulating a world where painterly details and expressive fluidity coexist in harmony. The process is slow and meditative, allowing each layer to dry, providing time for contemplation. "It's a meditative experience," Jessica explains. Her husband, Justin, is her silent partner and the unsung hero who helps her manage her creative time effectively.
 
Her art is also a celebration of her most joyful memories, channelling that happiness into every piece she creates. "Playful textures offer a multisensory experience to the viewer," she says.

Balancing family life and running a business isn't always a walk in the park. "The daily juggle is one of the biggest challenges," Jessica mentions. But, seven years into the business has taught her to work out the kinks and find a rhythm that suits her family life.
 
Jessica is optimistic about the future and goes by the philosophy that what is meant to be will be. She treasures the time with her children and integrates them into her journey, teaching them the value of following one's passion.

Jessica aspires to hold an international show in the U.S., where her largest collector base resides. Locally, she aims to have her own studio space and gallery warehouse where she can teach workshops and exhibit not just her own work but also that of other local artists.

Jessica brings a unique flair to the Upmarket Art Fair. "I love that 'Upmarket Art Fair' embraces the local community and provides a platform for so many local artists," she says. This year, Jessica is planning a new collection of originals and prints to have available, created exclusively for the event.
